Opening of the Center for Pediatric Palliative Care

In the presence of many friends, partners, sponsors and financiers, representatives of the local authorities, on Friday, June 9, 2017, the Lumina Association also wrote an important page of our story marking the official opening of the Center for Pediatric Palliative Care.

Thank you to those who chose to be with us at the opening: His Excellency Paul Brummell, Ambassador of Great Britain, Mr. Marius Marin, the representative of the Velux Foundations in Denmark, Mr. Adrian Birzu, the Vice President of the Light Association, Senator Dragoş Benea President of the County Council (CJ) at the time of approval of the co-financing of this hospice, Mr. Sorin Braşoveanu, the current president of CJ Bacau, Mr. Cosmin Necula, Mayor of Bacău, Mr. Deputy Mayor Constantin Scripţ, Mr. Dragoş Luchian , President of PNL Bacău, Mr. Dragoş Pavăl, President of Dedeman Company, Mr. Marius Savin, President of CJAS Bacau, Ms. Mihaela Arim, Director of DSP and all other members: heads of institutions, foundations and partner companies.

Hospice for children with incurable diseases will serve the counties of Bacau, Neamt, Vaslui, Botosani, Suceava and Iasi. The building, with an area of ​​860 sqm / level, has eight 14-bed rooms, adapted bathrooms, medical cabinets, sensory room, kinetotherapy and psychological counseling, kitchen, dining room, conference room, and a chapel.

The value of the investment is 1.8 million euros, of which 1.2 million represents the contribution of the Velux Foundations in Denmark. The County Council participated with one million lei (220,000 euros), the Bacau Local Council provided 3,000 sq m, Dedeman – 120,000 euro, and Cemacon SA – all the necessary brick.

The direct beneficiaries of the hospice will be at least 28 children / month on admission who will receive medical services and 100 children who will participate in the activities of the day center. Indirect beneficiaries will be 300 (parents and brothers of patients) who will receive counseling. The hospice will also have an educational center for health and social professionals who work with children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

All these activities are an integral part of the project “A Chance to Dignity” implemented by “Lumina” Association, in partnership with the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection (BACA) Bacau and the Bacau County Council.

We continue to prepare for the start of the actual medical services: reception, completion of acquisition of equipment, medical team training course, personal engagement, manual completion procedures, etc.
